I'm just wondering....

Writing a blog is a very good thing because I can blab endlessly about how I feel and what I've done, etc. etc. etc. But sometimes I want to know what is going on in YOUR lives. How y'all are feeling and what excellent and not so excellent things you've been up to?

These days I am preparing for winter. Raking leaves and banking the house, stapling up plastic storm windows and bringing in the stove wood. Twenty degrees this morning. Gotta keep chipping away. My Adirondack Style exercise program.

I am on my way to the coast with my BFF. My final get away before back surgery October 26th and up to 3 months in a back brace. What fun. Can't remember when your knee replacement is but I'll catch up with you before then. Enjoy the rainy Autumn day.

Just returned from a lovely beach trip with some friends.
I needed the sand between my toes and the not-so-scorching heat of the October sun on the Gulf of Mexico. Here at home it Autumn is in full swing for sure. Trees are changing, temps at night are in the 30's, and chili and pumpkin cookies are on my agenda (after I rest).

I'll be resting for the next few days as vacation and too much activity drains us Sjogies. Difficult for others to understand, but that is how it works.

Medically, it has been one battle after the other since May. On a course of low-dose steroids at the moment, as I'm trying everything I can to avoid the Imuran my Neuro and Rheumy are telling me is needed right now.

Happy Fall, Ya'll!

It's been one thing after another this year. Low hemoglobin was not improving so my doctor scheduled an Aranesp infusion, but they gave up after 3 tries as my hemoglobin was .1 too high each time the infusion center tested it. She started me on 50 mcg Synthroid for my low thyroid, and then we had to cut back to 25 mcg because it elevated my hypertension and made my IBS worse. Now I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy as my stool test showed blood. ARGHHHHH!

i am struggling to balance looking after my son with multiple disabilities, looking after myself, and being there for my mom who has been diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. She is going through chemo right now and has only a couple of treatments left. She is frequently in and out of the hospital with a respiratory virus that just won't go away. She is very anxious and needs a lot of attention. I feel like I am barely keeping my head above water some days.

Hi Julia:
I am hanging in there. When able I alternate my stretching exercises and Tai Chi. What is the most irritating is that a few years ago my two neighbors and I would walk four miles about five times a week and now it is a fifteen minute walk around the block. I am lucky though, one neighbor has Parkinson's, another has MS. Also I am 77 ( diagnosed about five years ago after years of trying to figure out what was wrong with me) and should be slowing down a bit by now, just would rather have it be age rather than Sjogren's and the other auto immune stuff I have. I am also unable to take medication. I love to read, garden and my husband and I have a boat so we go fishing periodically on a small lake near us. Life is good.
Love your blog and have learned so much from it. Thank you so much.
