A Fabulous Day at the Fair

I've really been giving my Canon a workout for the last few weeks. Here's my latest batch from a nearby county fair.

If you head east from Portland and follow the Columbia river, you'll find yourself in a picturesque little town nestled deep in the Cascade mountains. It's here in Skamania County that we attended one of the last admission-free county fairs in the country.

With the assistance of my brace and my cane, I was able to pet goats to my heart's content...

And pat velvety horse noses.......

And eat elephant ears......

And cheer for the gals in the women's beer keg tossing contest.....

And enjoy the colors of the carnival rides that contrasted so sharply with the deep green mountains.

And when my energy ran out, I reluctantly headed home wishing that I had won a giant frog and a dinosaur tail like these guys.

Maybe next year. I'm sure I'll get 'em next year because I WILL be back.

Love a good county fair. The 4-H barn, FFA, tractor pulling, livestock judging and most of all----fair food! Ah, the French fries and the Argyle fire co. chicken. Oh yeah.good thing it's once a year.

What a fun day! Great photos. I loved the Central Washington State Fair when I lived in Yakima. Did not know about this one. I'll go with you next year!
