Soda Free Summer

I may have found a tool to help me kick my Coca-cola addiction. See previous post here.

The bay area is promoting a Soda Free Summer campaign. Useful information found here.  Doc Gurley adds additional ammunition to the fight by labeling cola as "liquid obesity".

Brilliant!

Hi there, I have to admit I am a coke addict too... I used to drink tons of it, like a two liter bottle a day... Nowadays I try to limit my consunption of it, I don't keep the big bottles, but smaller cans at home. Therefore thought it costs me almost the same I drink less of it, but the addiction is still there, more so in the summer... People say that the sugary dring can't quench their thirst... for me there isn't anything better than an ice-cold can of coke in the hot weather (mind you I cannot stand the diet, or the zero stuff, I only dring the regular, which I assume contributes to my ever going battle with weight)... I don't drink alcohol, I never smoked, but I cannot fight coca cola...

I just made a vow (and my sister with me as we share this problem) to stop drinking wine. Not that I drink great amounts, but I drink it too frequently and it's bad for weight issues too... besides being potentially harmful for other body functions (at least 100 calories for each glass of white wine for instance).
I have tried this before and always caved in in the end so I don't know how long I will last this time... but if you stay off the coke, I'll stay off the chardonnay !
One trick which works well for me in summer is drinking iced herbal tea (no sugar). There are a few herbal teas that taste great when cooled ! Lemon balm, fennel seed, lemon thyme, chamomilla, vervain and peppermint all work well, individually or mixed together.

It's a deal, Isis!

Wouldn't it be nice if somebody made a Coca-Cola patch - like the ones people use to quit smoking? Gotta get me one of those....
