Please know that I am thinking of you.

One of my previous jobs as a RN was as a dialysis nurse. I understand your anxiety and concern about having to rely on dialysis. My experience was many years ago, so my expertise is very dated.

Keep in touch!Julia Oleinikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04857783768340014545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690850457652849477.post-39617047320005841872008-06-21T19:29:00.000-07:002008-06-21T19:29:00.000-07:00Thanks for the info. I appreciate your interest and hope there may be someone else going through the kidney problems associated with Sjogrens. I feel alone and just wish for a glimmer of hope to beat this disease.Vickyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03637013340045655467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690850457652849477.post-9135914512390623112008-06-20T12:52:00.000-07:002008-06-20T12:52:00.000-07:00Hi Vicky,Thanks for visiting. At this point, my Sjogren's is not affecting my kidneys, but it definitely is an issue for some.

The most common kidney problem related to Sjogren's Syndrome is Renal Tubular Acidosis. You can read more about RTA here:

http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseases/pubs/tubularacidosis/

The Procrit is prescribed to boost your body's ability to make red blood cells, since in some kidney diseases, your red blood cell levels drop.

There are several other ways that autoimmune disease can impact your kidney function.

Please keep me posted as to how you are doing!

JuliaJulia Oleinikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04857783768340014545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690850457652849477.post-59748893660534852062008-06-20T12:27:00.000-07:002008-06-20T12:27:00.000-07:00Very cute!!!
