Tell Them You Love Them

Thank you for all of the prayers and good wishes. They are much appreciated.

I am writing this as my family is making funeral arrangements for my dad, who died in the early morning hours of Christmas Day. He passed peacefully, lying in his own bed with my mom sleeping by his side.

I will write more later about this remarkable man, but to be honest, I am still in disbelief. Dad has always seemed indestructible even at 90 years old. I need more time to process the fact that he is no longer with us.

If you are one of those lucky folks with your mom or dad still here, hug them. Call them. Because you never know when that will no longer be possible.

Julia,
When you lose your parent, your childhood dies too.
And you feel like an orphan no matter how old you are.
My condolences on your loss...but smile because you
will never forget him, and the happy times will carry
you through any dark days...
My best to you and your siblings.

I am so sorry to hear about your father. Yes.....you are so right to say "tell them you love them", before you can't. My Mom passed away at 56, and my Dad is 92...every moment is precious. Hope your recovery goes well, sincere sympathy about your Dad....stress is not a good thing for a healthy body, never mind one with autoimmune issues. Prayers are going your way ~ hugs too!

Prayers and hugs for you and your family Julia. I lost my mother last year 5 days before Xmas. Although I was worried about how I would feel ever year as Xmas approaches and good friend reminded me that it was my mother's way of making sure she was in our conscious thoughts each and every holiday season. Please take a needed break and take especially good care for yourself.
