I Think It Was The B.....

Image found on wikipedia

.::blink::.

Whoa, man. There I was, yakking with John over a BLT sandwich with extra B, and........hmm. I thought I felt a niggling little......twinge.....which reminded me of the way a dumb stupid migraine felt.

Couldn't possibly.

I continued chewing and yakking. And then I noticed.....that my sandwich tasted kind of.....weird. Like my tongue had.....changed. The niggling little pain intensified to an annoying pain. And the room began to become all floaty and spin-y.

How bizarre. No way. Not another migraine?! No. Stinkin'. Way!

The pain became more intense.

Dumb stupid migraine. This was bad news. Very, very, bad news since I was anticipating getting on a plane for the East coast on Saturday. At six-way-too-early-AM.

I made a dash for the Imitrex. Well, not a dash actually, since  by then the floor was moving peculiarly. I slugged down the pill.

And now it's morning.

I realize now that I need to start identifying potential triggers for these dumb stupid migraines, and I'm wondering if the bacon in the BLT sandwich added to the excitement of the upcoming wedding set this one off. I seem to recall reading that commercially produced bacon contained nitrites, which is a trigger for many.

This diet modification is easy. Trading bacon (and all other processed meats) for a migraine?

No brainer. So to speak.

I know my Mother-in-law found MSG triggered her migraines in a big way. So she quit using any seasoning with it added... quit Chinese food that added it... the bacon might be guilty.

Lately the headaches caused by the degeneration in my neck are not affected by the Apple Cider Vinegar I told you about... darn it.

I really hope you can have a good trip... without the migraines tagging along. You don't need that.

Hugs to you & safe travels.

Sorry to hear about the migraine coming on again. Nitrites in bacon and other cured meats are a trigger for me too. There are luckily a number of brands of bacon now without nitrites so that's some good news.

Wishing you a migraine free trip.

Oscar Meyer actually produces a preservative free version if that helps! No nitrites...

Julia,
I hope you do well at the wedding. You can google common migraine triggers and see if anything listed might apply to you. Certain foods cause headaches for me, such as aged cheeses, chocolate, red wine, warm sourdough bread, too much caffeine or diet soda. Other triggers are certain perfumes, skipping a meal, lack of sleep or strobe lights. If I know I'm going to be having champagne, I take imitrex before I sip! (we have to LIVE, for heaven's sake!)
