Marvelous May Day

I was visiting with a friend of mine the other day. She's in her '70s and is just a peach - energetic, vibrant, and living life to the fullest. I love our conversations because she's led such an interesting life, and lucky for me, she enjoys revisiting her escapades.

She was telling me that every year since she was in her '30s, she has left tiny May Day baskets of treats on her neighbor's doorsteps. She takes paper cupcake liners, lines them with a bit of plastic Easter grass, and tucks in a few sweets - some years she puts in small home made cookies, some years purchased candies. Then she wraps them in cellophane, ties them with a bright ribbon, and just before dawn, places one in front of each neighbors' door.

She was giggling as she related her story, and of her plans for this year. Having lived in several neighborhoods over her life, it would be hard to imagine how many of these little surprises she has gifted. She swears that nobody has ever guessed her mystery May Day identity.

I love it. I want her to live in MY neighborhood, bless her heart.

You can download and print your own paper cone May day baskets here.
