We Don't Serve Roadrunner In Our Backyard

Image found here

I was bleary-eyed this morning, and decided I needed some serious coffee. So as I was pouring my second cuppa, I looked out in our back yard and saw this:

Blink.

Is that....a coyote?? Inside what we thought was a coyote-proof fence? After a quick check to make sure that Mags and Lulu were indoors, (They were and completely unaware of the predator in our backyard. So much for their guard dog status) I grabbed my camera and got this very blurry photo. You can just make out his furry little face behind the tree branch.

Mr. Wile E. Coyote spotted me and within seconds had leaped over the fence.

I think he was looking for a schnauzer snack. Hm. I hope he doesn't come back riding an acme rocket.

We have those here in NY, too, Julia--they really seem to like cats--quite a few have disappeared lately in our neighborhood. But, I guess they were here first, right?

Hi Leslie - Yes, this definitely was their hunting grounds long before we showed up!

We have them here in LaSalle as well. My father in law lives in a rural area and he can hear them in the evening as they call to each other. All the stray cats have disappeared from my neighbourhood. A family near my father in law lost one of their small dogs, a shitzu I think, in the corn. They heard it yelp and and never saw it again. You might want to keep an eye on the girls. I was surprised when I saw one on the other side of my 6 foot chain link fence. I'm glad my kids are older and I keep my cat indoors.
We see deer and pheasants regularly in the woods behind our house. I even saw a red tailed fox the other day. I was surprised at how big it was. I always thought they were small. I live in a subdivision but we have quite the menagerie living in the woods out back. It is kind of nice knowing that they are there.

Great grab for the pic Jul.
Saw a 10 point buck this AM lazily eating corn in our backyard. Glad your wildlife and mine were not together. Missing you. (Smiling, and imaginary hug) Your friend Therese is blessed to have you. You are a great friend. dianne h.

Thank you for not wanting to KILL the poor animal. It disturbs me how humans want to kill wild animals that are doing what nature taught them. Argh. LOVE Your blog! I've had Sjogren's for almost two years (diagnosed, that is) and seem to get progressively worse, though the Plaquenil has been miraculous! Thanks for all your info!
